RUNNERS-UP + OTHER ENTRIES 

 

Official results of the Section of Fine Arts's President Jackson competition stated 462 artists submitted 1,462 designs. When the Section closed down, the final report said 485 and 1,748. Of course, this isn't the only discrepancy, or else research wouldn't be fun. (A wee bit of sarcasm is definitely intended.) Regarding the photos of the entries: not all of them can be accounted for (yet). Also, there are more entry numbers than are on the master list accompanying the photos. (See? Fun!)

 

Many of the entries had merit, some wonderfully abstract, though many more were mediocre. Several artists gained national acclaim, several became well-known within their state or region. One entry was deemed suitable for an Iowa post office.

 

As time permits, more will be added to this section, as there is more to the reject pile deserving of recognition.
